The theoretical part of the preclinical endodontic course is the foundation that enables the student to learn the scope, indications, and steps of endodontic treatment and recognition of causes of treatment failure.

The laboratory part of this course will provide first hand-on endodontic preclinical training and experience utilizing mountedsimulated teeth andextracted mounted human teeth as well as micro-endodontics training. This prepares and enables student to be competent in treatment of clinical endodontic cases in the next year

This course is the first clinicalendodontic course, which the students take after didactic and preclinical training in endodontics

The course will be taught in 2 semesters

The scope of the course includes preparing the students to be able toanalyze, recognize, diagnose and successfully treat pulpally involved or potentially pulpally involved teeth

Important fundamentals are stressed with emphasis on the correlation between basic clinical and biological principles.

Upon completion of the pre-clinical and clinical endodontic courses of the 4th and 5th years, the students will have an advanced knowledge about

Diagnosis, treatment planning and management of different types of pulpal and periapical pathosis

Diagnosis, treatment planning and management of different endodontic emergencies

Students will get acquainted with the problems during endodontic procedures and how to solve it

Become familiar with the diagnoses and management of endodontic failures; endodontic retreatment and periradicular surgeries

Students could apply and evaluate the suitable type of restoration of the endodontically treated teeth

Recognize the different levels of difficulties and complexities of endodontic cases and how to solve it
